Generosus = of noble or good family -  An  Esquire-  Gentleman

Medicus= Physician

Mercator = Merchant

 Vern (Verna) =Spring  Term

Aest  (Aestival) = Summer  Term

Hiem (Hiemps) =  Winter  Term

SC = socius comitarus/ Fellow  Commoners =  paid double fees and enjoyed several privileges, including that of finishing the College course in three years instead of four.  They  probably   had  a  Private  tutor

Sizars = sons  of  poor  parents  often  clergy.  They  were  allowed  free  education  in  consideration  of  performing  certain,  at  one  time  menial, duties.

Pensioner = Persons  of  moderate  income  who  paid  a  fixed  sum  annually

NOTE
Thomas  Bullen  was  baptised  in  Nantwich  in  1659.
He  is  probably  the  father  of  Thomas  Bullen  below

Born  Nantwicht,  England.  School  1722.  B.A.  Vern.  1724.  M.A.  Aest  1727
NOTE
Thomas  Bullen  was  born   in  Nantwich , Cheshire,  England   in  1701.
He  is  the  Rev  Thomas Bullen,  who  married  Anne Wolfe, at  St  Werburgh  Dublin  on  May  25^th  1736.
It  is  unknown  if  they  had  any  children

 

• Richard  Bullen

Pensioner  (Mr  McMullen  Dublin ) Oct  2^nd  1723,  aged 18 :
son  of  Edward  Bullen  Generosus:  born  near  Kinsale . BA  Vern  1728
NOTE
This  is  Rev  Richard  Bullen (1705-1789).
He  is  the  son  of  Edward  Bullen(?-1737)  and  Mary  O’Bery (?-1737)  of  Old  Head  Kinsale.
His  wife’s  name  is  unknown (possibly  Lucy  or  Mary).
He  had  one  known Child  Louisa  Petitiot  Bullen

 

• Robert  Bullen

Pensioner  (Mr  Wood ) July  5^th  1750  (NFP)  B.A. Vern  1756
NOTE
This  is  the  only  available  information.
He  could  be  an  English  Bullen
If  he  is  an  Irish  Bullen, he  is  probably  Robert  Bullen (1737?-1794).
The son  of  Joseph  Bullen(?-1745)  and  his  2^nd  wife  Ellinor  Wrixon.
Robert  Bullen  married  Abigail  Ellinor  Crofts  in  1763  and  was  the  progenitor  of  the  “Ballythomas  Bullens”

 

• John  Bullen

Pensioner  (Mr  McCormick)  July  9^th  1788,  aged  16 ; son  of  Robert  Generosus  born;  Co  Cork
NOTE
This  is  John  Bullen ( 1772-?),  son  of  Robert  Bullen (1737?-1794)  and  Abigail  Ellinor  Crofts.
Nothing  is  known  about  him.
He  did  not  obtain  a  degree

 

• Robert  Bullen  

Pensioner  (Mr  Macormic ) May  19^th  1786,  aged  17  son  of  Robert  Bullen  generosus;
born  Cork.  BA  Vern  1790.
NOTE
This  is  Rev  Robert  Bullen (1771-1817).
He  is  the  son  of Robert  Bullen (1737?-1794)  and  Abigail  Ellinor  Crofts. He  married  Anne  Philpot  in  1795.
His  descendants  emigrated  to  Australia

 

• John  Bullen   

Pensioner  (Dr Maginn)  July  3^rd  1820,  aged  18 ; son  of  Rev  Robert  Bullen;  born Cork 
NOTE
John  Philpot  Bullen   (1802-1825)  is  the  son  of  Rev  Robert  Bullen (1771-1817)  and  Anne  Philpot.
He  died  before  he  was  able  to  complete  his  degree

 

• Edward  Bullen

SC  (Mr  Farrell)   Oct  15^th  1821,  aged  16,  Roman  Catholic ,  son  of  William  Medicus;  Born  Cork .
B.A . aest  1825.  MA  Nov  1832  (Irish  Bar  1828)
NOTE
Edward  Bullen(1805-1866)  is  the  son  of Dr William  Bullen  (1766?- 1844)  and
Catherine  Quinlan (1775/6 -1850)
He  was  a barrister  and  single.

Pensioner  (Mr  Burke)  July  1^st  1845,  aged  16;  son  of  Robert  Bullen  Generosus;  born  Co  Cork.
B.A.  Vern  1850  M..A  Aest  1869
NOTE
This  is  Rev  John  Bullen   (1827-1900).
He  is  the  son  of Robert  Crofts  Bullen (1797?-1851)   and  Susan  Purcell  (1801-1864).
He  married  Jane  Wheatley  in  1855.
He  was  a  vicar  in  England

son  of Richard  Bullen Major  RE.  Born  “Richmond  Lord”
Educated  at  Wesley  College (Dublin)  before   attending  Trinity.
Entered  Trinity  Oct  1880  aged  16   Obtained  BA  in  summer  1884
Was  a  pensioner
NOTE
This  is  Captain  Edward  Darley  Bullen (1865-1898).  He  is  the  son  of  Lt  Col
Richard  Bullen (1835-1883)  and  Jessie  Darley (1840?-1920).  He  is  the  grandson  of
Dr Denis  Brenan  Bullen  (1802-1866)   and  Ellen  Marie  Power  (1804-1880)    and  the  Great
Grandson  of  Dr William  Bullen  (1766?- 1844)  and    Catherine  Quinlan (1775/6 1850).
He was  single  and  died  in  India

Dr  Walter  Alexander  Bullen(1892-1965)  is  the  son  of  Major  John  Whelply
Bullen  MD (1860- 1948))   and  Jane  Carlos  Applebee(?-1952).
He  is  the  grandson   of   Walter  Bullen (1825-1897)  and  Elizabeth  Jane  Ford (1830-1913)  of  Bandon.
He  married Genevieve  Claire  Emma  Perrot  in  1936.
He  practiced  in Kenya  and  London
